The Beautiful Chaos Behind Every Perfect Photo
Here's what nobody tells you about being a photographer: I leave every single photoshoot absolutely parched and completely exhilarated.
The thirsty part? That comes from the sheer physical and vocal exertion that goes into any given shoot. I would have never guessed how much energy I'd be burning at each session—and this is with big kids, not wrangling a family of five under five!
Somewhere between the perfect shot in my mind and the actual execution, I often lose my words when directing my wonderful clients. It's like my brain knows exactly what I want, but my mouth just... doesn't cooperate. You'll find me demonstrating the moves myself, using wild hand gestures, or confidently saying things like "right hand, no left hand, no RIGHT!" while pointing in the complete opposite direction. It's a whole production, really. Posing people while in perpetual motion is good for the muscles, I tell myself. It's basically a workout with a camera attached.
If you're ever nervous about looking completely silly during your photoshoot, here's your comfort: all you have to do is take a look at me, and you'll feel so much better about yourself. I'm the one contorting into positions I didn't know my body could still manage (and probably shouldn't attempt). I'm the one speaking in incomplete sentences that somehow still communicate exactly what I need. I'm the one doing an interpretive dance to show you how to angle your shoulder or tilt your chin.
I've created a behind-the-scenes video so you can get a real feel for what a shoot with me is actually like. Spoiler alert: it's not the polished, quiet, sophisticated affair you might imagine.Behind every gorgeous image is a photographer saying things that make no grammatical sense, standing in positions that defy both gravity and good judgment, and probably making faces that would terrify small children.
But here's the thing—that chaos? That energy? That willingness to look absolutely ridiculous? That's where the magic happens. When we're all being human together, when we're laughing at my terrible directions and your "I have no idea what to do with my hands" moments, that's when the real, beautiful, authentic shots emerge.
So come as you are. Be awkward. Laugh at my expense. I promise I'll be right there with you, gesturing wildly and forgetting which hand is which, making sure we capture something beautiful together. Because the best photos aren't born from perfection—they're born from connection, laughter, and a photographer who's willing to do whatever it takes (and look however silly necessary) to get that shot.
